The 29th Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival is set for July 5th to 14th and the programme is nearly complete. As always, there will be a bunch of new faces in town, this year look out for Potato Head Jazz Band [Spain], The Good Lovelies [Canada], Tim Kliphuis [Holland], Kent DuChaine [USA], Giedre Kilciauskiene/Andrej Polevikov Quartet [Lithuania], Grainne Duffy Band [Ireland], Lindy Pop [Leeds], Sheep Got Waxed [Lithuania], Alex McKown Blues Band [Sheffield] and Melissa Lauren [Canada]. Newsflash: The British Jazz Awards are coming back to Birmingham!
In association with the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust
This year, the Jazz Oscars will be returning to Birmingham as part of the festival. Now in it's 27th year, the British Jazz Awards recognise the efforts and expertise of all too often underappreciated musicians on the scene. The winners, as decided by a public vote, will descend on St Pauls in the Jewellery Quarter for an awards presentation and performance on Wednesday 10th July, so start dusing down your gladrags!
