Digby Fairweather gets up, close and personal with a curious audience member at Church Street Square
This weather just gets better and better, doesn’t it? Yet another glorious day of sunshine at the 30th Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival paved the way for a fantastic day of music-making. Yesterday saw some new artists come to the party, with the Budapest Ragtime Band, Art Themen and Kansas Smitty’s Big Four all entering the fray. The Ragtime Band were one not to be missed at The Mailbox and later Lightwoods Park with some great jazz coupled with some extraordinary breakdancing and handstands by the vocalist! Not forgetting his wearing a suit and a hoodie on top in intense heat – there’s a man with true commitment to his art.
Festival patron Digby Fairweather also made his first appearance at the Festival this year, appearing alongside Kansas Smitty’s Big Four at Church Street Square for his 30th Festival and their first, combining the old and new in brilliant fashion. We are very excited for Digby’s appearance today (Thursday) at the Lord Clifden!
We’re looking forward to another great day of festivaling today and for the rest of the week – come and see…
