Little Louis on film

As part of the London Jazz Festival, in association with Radio 3, Louis, a silent film about the life of the young Louis Armstrong, has its European premiere at the Barbican on November 13. Louis, written and directed by Dan Pritzker, has a score composed by Wynton Marsalis, incorporating the work of the celebrated 19th century New Orleans composer, Louis Moreau Gottschalk. For the Barbican performance the score will be performed live by classical pianist Cecile Licad and an eight-piece jazz ensemble led by trombone master Wycliffe Gordon.
